CHANDIGARH: Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria issued a stern warning to illegal drug networks operating within the city, asserting that law enforcement authorities will initiate thorough searches and strict action against those involved in the trade. Speaking at a public function in Sector 17, Kataria urged residents to actively collaborate with police agencies and civic bodies to eliminate substance abuse. He encouraged the youth to assist peers struggling with addiction and highlighted child malnutrition as another critical issue requiring joint community focus.
The event marked the launch of a community-driven awareness programme organized by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under the slogan “Say no to drugs and choose a bright and healthy future.” Simultaneously, the civic body rolled out the ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ campaign to promote child development, maternal health, and the essential role of local Anganwadi centres. Mayor Saurabh Joshi, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal president Sanjiv Chadha, traders, and senior administration officials attended the gathering to support the dual social initiatives.
