Kolkata, July 24: The protest momentum surrounding student grievances expanded to Kolkata as supporters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party joined local assemblies to express solidarity over examination issues and social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s recent fast. Supporters organized to address concerns regarding the NEET-UG examination framework alongside local educational organizations.

“Without police clearance, our independent march could not go ahead, so participants were encouraged to join the pre-approved Sealdah rally,” CJP Kolkata representative Dedipya Gangopadhyay stated regarding the organizational change.

Initial plans for a separate march from College Square to Rani Rashmoni Avenue were revised after law enforcement authorities expressed concerns regarding potential traffic congestion on major arterial roads including Central Avenue and AJC Bose Road. Organizers consolidated their participation into a single pre-approved procession moving from Sealdah towards Esplanade to minimize public inconvenience and ensure smoother administrative coordination. Local law enforcement sources maintained that managing a single consolidated route helped reduce overall traffic disruption across key city corridors.
