Chandigarh, 26 Nov. 24: Unidentified robbers targeted an 82-year-old woman in Chandigarh’s Sector 27, stealing cash, mobile phones, and jewelry worth an estimated ₹70-80 lakh. The incident occurred around 3:55 a.m. when the intruders climbed over the wall of the house and took the elderly woman, Raksha Sharma, hostage.
According to the police, the robbers escaped with ₹37,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and valuable jewelry. Raksha Sharma, who lives alone, had lost her husband and has a son currently residing in the United States.
Sharma previously ran a tire shop located under her residence. However, the shop, now managed by a servant, had been closed for the past month.
Authorities are actively investigating the case and reviewing the circumstances surrounding the robbery. No suspects have been identified yet.
