Patna, June 7: The Sports Authority of India Sports Training Centre in Patna organized a large-scale edition of the “Fit India Sunday on Cycle” rally on Sunday to celebrate World Bicycle Day 2026. Held in coordination with the Government of Bihar and numerous corporate and civic organizations, the mass cycling initiative brought together more than 1,000 participants to promote environmental sustainability and physical well-being under the national Fit India Movement.
The 10-kilometer cycling circuit kicked off from Income Tax Golambar, navigated toward the Patna Zoo, and mapped back to its starting point. The diverse crowd of participants featured local athletes, youth volunteers, civic groups, and personnel from the regional armed and paramilitary forces, including the CRPF, CISF, ITBP, NDRF, and RPF. Educational and corporate units like NCC Patna and Decathlon Patna also supported the logistics of the public rally.
Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha joined the event as Chief Guest alongside an administrative delegation that included Bihar Olympic Association President Ajay Kumar, ESIC Regional Director Niranjan Kumar, and Bihar Cycling Association Secretary Kaushal Kumar. The gathering focused on practical steps urban communities can take to reduce carbon footprints while simultaneously improving cardiovascular health.
Organizers plan to maintain the momentum of the green initiative through ongoing regional activations. The administrative team noted that regular fitness campaigns are essential for building active habits across generations, especially when supported by local sports associations and wellness groups.
The Chief Guest stated that embracing cycling on a routine basis provides a dual benefit for personal wellness and urban ecology. He affirmed that dedicating even a single day each week to cycling can trigger significant positive changes in community health.
“Cycling not only enhances physical fitness but also contributes significantly to environmental conservation,” MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha declared while addressing the gathered participants at the conclusion of the route.
The event leadership affirmed that the structural rollout of the campaign will remain consistent to ensure long-term community engagement.
“The ‘Sunday on Cycle’ programme is being organized every Sunday at different locations to encourage citizens to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle,” SAI STC Patna Centre In-Charge Someswar Rao stated. “The initiative motivates people of all age groups to remain physically active and make cycling a regular part of their daily lives.”
