Chandigarh, December 20, 2024: Cold weather conditions persisted across Punjab and Haryana, with minimum temperatures dipping significantly in several cities, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, recorded a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius.
Pathankot emerged as the coldest spot in Punjab, registering a bone-chilling 4 degrees Celsius. Gurdaspur and Bathinda followed closely with minimum temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Amritsar recorded 6.4 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala saw lows of 5.7 degrees Celsius and 6.5 degrees Celsius.
Haryana’s Sirsa experienced the coldest night in the state at 4.2 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded 5.6 degrees Celsius, while Karnal shivered at 6.8 degrees Celsius. Gurugram registered a low of 8.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Kurukshetra at 8 degrees Celsius, and Ambala at 8.8 degrees Celsius.
The chilly conditions are expected to persist in the coming days, with the IMD urging residents to take precautions against the cold.
