Kuwait, 22 December 2024: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Kuwait’s highest honor, ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,’ marking another milestone in his global recognition. This distinction, presented by Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, marks the 20th international award Modi has received from various countries.

The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, a prestigious Kuwaiti knighthood, is typically granted to Heads of State, sovereign leaders, and members of foreign royal families as a token of friendship. With his recognition, Modi joins the ranks of several notable global leaders such as former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, as well as Prince Charles, who have been awarded this honor in the past.

“I am honoured to be conferred the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. I dedicate this honour to the people of India and to the strong friendship between India and Kuwait,” Modi tweeted, acknowledging the significance of this award.

Modi’s global recognition further extends beyond Kuwait, with other notable awards received in recent months. Just last month, during his visit to Guyana, he was bestowed the highest national award of that country, the ‘Order of Excellence.’

“I express my heartfelt gratitude to my friend President Irfaan Ali for conferring upon me Guyana’s highest award. This is a living proof of your deep commitment to our relations, which will continue to inspire us to move forward in every field,” said Modi at the time.

Furthermore, during a recent state visit to Dominica, Modi received the “Dominica Award of Honour” from President Sylvanie Burton. “Honoured to be conferred with the highest national award by Dominica. I dedicate it to the 140 crore people of India,” Modi shared on his social media platform X, underscoring his gratitude for the honor.

Modi’s latest visit to Kuwait included an impressive ceremonial welcome at the Bayan Palace. Upon his arrival, he was greeted with a Guard of Honour, attended by the Amir of Kuwait. The formal ceremony highlighted the warmth of the relationship between India and Kuwait.

A statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) elaborated further, sharing the details of the historic visit on X: “A special welcome on a historic visit! PM @narendramodi arrives at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait to a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour. Warmly received by HH Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, PM of Kuwait. Extensive talks with HH the Amir, Crown Prince, and PM of Kuwait lie ahead.”

The ceremonial Guard of Honour and the award are both symbolic of the growing diplomatic ties between India and Kuwait. Modi’s recognition in Kuwait comes at a time when India’s international profile continues to rise under his leadership, with numerous awards and honors reinforcing the country’s strong presence on the global stage.
