Chandigarh, November 26, 2024: Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that a statewide webcast will be conducted on November 27 as part of the ‘Child Marriage-Free India’ campaign. The initiative aims to eradicate child marriage across the state, with participants taking a pledge through a dedicated online link.

Dr. Kaur emphasized the need for collective efforts and has urged the participation of women self-help groups, Anganwadi and Asha workers, ANMs, Child Marriage Prevention Officers, teachers, students, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and religious leaders.

Calling for heightened awareness, she appealed to health workers, educators, and community leaders to take an active role in combating child marriage. “Fulfilling the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for a Rangla Punjab is only possible when we unite to eliminate social evils like child marriage,” Dr. Kaur said.
