Chandigarh, November 26, 2024: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini attended the Constitution Day celebrations at Kurukshetra University, where he inaugurated an exhibition organized by the Department of Communication, Language, and Culture to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Saini emphasized the Haryana government’s commitment to upholding democratic principles through progressive social and economic policies aligned with the Constitution’s core values. He highlighted that the Constitution, adopted on November 26, 1949, serves as the foundation of the nation’s democracy and unity.
Saini called for increased awareness and respect for constitutional principles among citizens, paying tribute to visionaries like Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. “This day reminds us of India’s enduring faith in democracy and the collective responsibility to uphold its ideals,” he said, urging citizens to celebrate the Constitution’s spirit and legacy.
Referring to the preamble, the Chief Minister noted its significance in appealing for unity, integrity, and faith in the Republic.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in strengthening constitutional ideals, citing the removal of Articles 370 and 35-A from Jammu and Kashmir as a true tribute to national icons like Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
Saini also underlined India’s rich tradition of self-governance, recalling the promise of equality, justice, and unity established when the Constitution was adopted in 1949.
He added that the declaration of Constitution Day in 2015, on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, was a gesture of gratitude to the architect of modern India.
