Chandigarh, 13 Octover, 2024: The Shatabdi Express (12046) was delayed by two hours at the Chandigarh railway station due to a farmers’ protest blocking tracks near Lalru.
A senior railway official explained the decision to delay the train at its origin rather than stopping it midway to avoid further inconvenience to passengers.
The train, originally scheduled to depart at 12:05 pm, was allowed to leave at 2:05 pm.
“The train is expected to pass Lalru around 3 pm when the protest is expected to end,” the official added,
The delay upset passengers who were expecting to arrive in New Delhi by 3:30 pm. The protest has impacted at least 20 trains, according to railway authorities.
