CHANDIGARH, May 21 — In response to the intensifying heatwave conditions gripping the region, the Haryana government has declared an early commencement of summer vacations for all government schools across the state.

The official announcement, made on May 21 following a high-level administrative meeting attended by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and senior education officials, shifts the vacation period to run from May 25 through June 30. Traditionally scheduled to begin on June 1 each year, the state administration chose to advance the holidays by five days to protect young students from the ongoing atmospheric stress.

Education department officials affirmed that the decision became necessary after normal life across the state was severely affected by scorching temperatures. Meteorological data revealed that maximum temperatures in five districts recently crossed the 45 degrees Celsius mark, with Rohtak recording the state’s highest maximum temperature at 46.9 degrees Celsius.

The state currently remains under an orange alert issued by the Meteorological Department, which predicts a continuation of the intense heatwave conditions over the coming days. Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions and minimize exposure during peak afternoon hours.
