Moga, July 6: Protesting teachers gathered in Moga to reject the monetary benefits offered under the state’s Mother Daughters Satkar Yojana, asserting that actual dignity lies in receiving their long-overdue job orders. The eligible candidates from the 5178 recruitment drive stated that the monthly allowance of ₹1000 and ₹1500 cannot substitute for their rightful employment.
The struggle has taken a heavy toll on the protesting families over the years. Inderpal, a representative of the protesting group, maintained, “On one hand, the administration terms a small monthly allowance as respect, while on the other hand, educated daughters are being kept away from their genuine rights.” He affirmed that the protracted delay has disrupted marriage plans for many women and plunged numerous households into deep mental and financial distress.
The root of the dispute traces back to administrative discrepancies in the 2011 Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET). While the official results saw corrections in 2017, the recruitment list based on the older data remained unaltered, leaving out roughly 300 high-merit candidates.
The protestors noted that the current leadership had assured swift resolutions while serving in the opposition. Inderpal declared, “Leaders promised to distribute appointment letters immediately upon forming the government, yet we await justice even as the current governance term moves into its concluding phases.” He also mentioned experiencing communication hurdles, noting that his messaging application account faced a temporary 24-hour suspension during the mobilization.
Several candidates from various districts, including Amarjit Kaur, Jatinder Kaur, Gursaran, Manjot, Ranju, Rajveer Kaur, Neelam, Manpreet Singh, Rajinder Kaur, Pushpinder Singh, Alpinder Kaur, Vandana, and Preetpal Kaur, marked their presence. The group warned of widening their agitation across the state to inform the public about their grievances if the appointment letters are not issued promptly.
