Mohali, Oct 28: Mohali observed significant legal developments as the Punjab Vigilance Bureau filed a comprehensive supplementary chargesheet spanning nearly 40,000 pages against Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Wednesday. According to an official government spokesperson, state investigators have mapped an alleged financial trail amounting to Rs 736.96 crore following extended examination of corporate records, banking channels, and business accounts linked to the former minister.
The official statement outlined that the expanded financial findings include Rs 161 crore in unaccounted cash deposits, Rs 141 crore routed through foreign-based operations, and Rs 236 crore in unexplained corporate deposits. This submission updates the initial filing, which had pegged examined assets and transactions at approximately Rs 540 crore during earlier phases of the inquiry.
Investigators focused heavily on corporate entities connected to the Akali leader, placing Saraya Industries at the core of the financial scrutiny. Official records state that the probe examined domestic liquor firm transfers, foreign-linked transactions, and business dealings involving key corporate associates to establish the flow of capital over recent years.
The official spokesperson affirmed that the investigation also reviewed prior case documentation regarding Majithia’s alleged associations with international individuals named in earlier inquiries, including Satpreet Singh alias ‘Satta’ and Parminder Singh alias ‘Pindi’. State authorities confirmed that the detailed supplementary documentation has been formally submitted before the court for judicial consideration as proceedings continue.
