Chandigarh/New Delhi, 04 November 2024: Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has announced that he will retire from cricket following the current Ranji Trophy season, marking the end of a distinguished career.
The 40-year-old Bengal player, who debuted internationally in 2010, has represented India in 40 Test matches and nine ODIs.
In a heartfelt social media post shared late Sunday, Saha expressed gratitude for his cricket journey and his final opportunity to play for Bengal.
“After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I am honored to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire,” he wrote, adding, “Let’s make this season one to remember.”
Saha, a long-time fixture in India’s red-ball cricket squad, was removed from the central contracts list last year, signaling a shift away from international cricket.
As he approaches retirement, Saha’s focus remains on ending his domestic career on a high note with Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.
