Washington, March 10 — Elon Musk-led social media platform X (formerly Twitter) suffered its second outage in a day, leaving thousands of users unable to access the site.
Downdetector, which tracks online service disruptions, recorded over 40,000 outage reports worldwide. More than 21,000 users in the U.S. and 10,800 in the UK reported issues, with many struggling to load pages or refresh their timelines. “Twitter went down for an hour but seems to be okay now?” an X user posted, while another wrote, “Everyone going to X now Twitter is down.”
Services resumed shortly after the disruption, though the exact cause remained unclear. Downdetector noted that its data is based on user reports, meaning the actual number of affected users could be higher.
Musk acquired Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion, later renaming it X and rebranding key platform features. While the domain “twitter.com” remains, the company replaced the blue bird logo with a white X on a black background and changed “tweets” to “posts” and “retweets” to “reposts.”
A PA Media report indicated that X is in talks with investors about raising capital at the same $44 billion valuation, suggesting a potential turnaround despite ongoing advertiser and user concerns.
