Faridkot, March 28 — A couple was murdered over a property dispute in Kanianwali village, Punjab’s Faridkot district, on Friday.
Police said Resham Singh, 32, and his wife, Harpreet Kaur, 30, both from Moga, were axed to death by her brother, Arshpreet Singh, who fled the scene but was arrested soon after.
Faridkot SP (Investigation) Jasmeet Sahiwal said the couple had come to the village a few days ago to care for Harpreet’s bedridden father, Gamdoor Singh.
Arshpreet allegedly feared his sister might stake claim to their ancestral eight-acre agricultural land. The siblings argued over the property on Thursday night, before the fatal attack on Friday morning.
A murder case has been registered at Sadiq police station.
