MI vs LSG: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 24 lakh by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday due to slow overs. In the match played against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, his team was defeated by 54 runs. After this, Lucknow’s net run rate became -0.325 and the team is at the sixth position with 10 points.
24 lakh rupees due to slow over rate
By the way, the fine imposed on the captain of the team for the slow over rate is only 12 lakh rupees. But, since this was Pant’s and his team’s second mistake this season, meaning they repeated their mistake, they were fined Rs 24 lakh for that reason. Apart from being fined 24 lakh rupees on Pant, the players included in the playing eleven of LSG against Mumbai Indians will have to pay 6 lakh rupees or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is less, under the IPL code of conduct.
Failed to maintain over rate maintenance for the first time
Earlier, Rishabh Pant and his team LSG have been fined for slow over rate in the IPL 2025 match played on April 4. Coincidentally, that match was also against Mumbai Indians, which was played at the Ikana Stadium in Lucknow. For the first time in that match, Pant was failing as a captain to maintain the over rate, due to which he had to pay a fine of 12 lakh rupees.
Every run of IPL’s most expensive player is worth Rs 24.50 lakh
Rishabh Pant is the most expensive player not only in IPL 2025 but in the entire IPL history. He was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore. But, Pant’s game has not been as good as the money spent by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka on him. In the 10 matches played so far in IPL 2025, Pant has been able to score only 110 runs at an average of 12.22 and a strike rate of less than 100. This means that every run scored by him is costing LSG owner Rs 24.5 crore.
