May 31, IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans may have been out of the race for the final in IPL 2025, but many players of the team impressed a lot. While Sai Sudarshan is currently the highest run-scorer of the season, Prasidh Krishna has the Purple Cap. After Gujarat’s exit, now India’s new Test captain Shubman and Sudarshan will leave for England tour, where they have to participate in the five-match series starting on June 20. Ahead of the England tour, Sudarshan has talked about his batting. He said that after playing a few matches in county cricket, he was convinced that focusing on the basics is the most important part in batting. Ahead of his first Test tour of England, Sudarshan claimed to have regained a great deal of confidence.

Sudarshan looked in great form in IPL

Sudarshan batted brilliantly in the IPL, scoring 759 runs for Gujarat at an average of 54.21. After his team lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Friday night, his focus has shifted to red ball cricket. The left-handed batsman, who has played for Surrey in the last few seasons, was expected to play in the second match between India A and England in Northampton from June 6, but he is not sure if that is possible. The Test team will leave for England on June 6.

‘Very good experience gained from county cricket’

Sudarshan said, ‘I have played seven matches in county cricket, so honestly, I have gained a very good experience from this. This has improved my batting manifold in terms of technique and basics. This made me realize that ‘basics’ are the most important thing in batting. So, I think this will help me and I will focus more on what I have learned. I will focus on making myself aware and creating awareness before the series.’

‘Having got used to limited overs cricket’

Sudarshan admitted that he has been playing limited overs cricket for a long time and it will be difficult to give up the habit of playing with the white ball immediately, but the first Test match will start on June 20 and he has enough time to adjust to playing in the long-term format. He said, ‘Of course, after a long three-month period of white ball tournament, some things must have changed in your batting. I think it will take some time to focus more on the ‘basics’ and apply them in red ball cricket, but we will have some good time to prepare before the series starts.’

‘Playing for the country is everyone’s dream’

Sudarshan was asked if he expects to be selected in India’s T20 team after his brilliant performance in the IPL? He said, ‘Playing for the country is everyone’s dream, so I also want this but right now I am not thinking about it because as a T20 batsman I still have to improve my game a lot. Whenever I get a chance, I will definitely want to give my best for the country.
