Panchkula, June 9 – An unidentified man was found hanging from a tree near the entrance of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police Station in Sector 17 early Sunday morning, prompting a police investigation into the suspicious death.
Commuters passing by the area first spotted the body and alerted authorities. A team from the Sector 16 police outpost responded promptly, cordoned off the site, and initiated preliminary inquiries.
While officials said suicide is one line of investigation, no definitive conclusion has been drawn. The lack of identification documents has complicated efforts to determine the man’s identity.
“We are scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and reviewing recent missing person reports,” said a senior police officer, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death.
The discovery just outside a police facility has attracted public attention, raising questions over security and the circumstances leading to the death.
Police say further action will depend on the leads that emerge during the investigation.
