New Delhi | June 15 – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against three accused in connection with the December 2024 grenade attack on a police post in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district, carried out by the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF).

Those chargesheeted include Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi Nihung, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah, and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal, all residents of Rahon village in SBS Nagar. They have been booked under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws.

According to the NIA, Yugpreet Singh was recruited and radicalised by Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga, a KZF operative based in the UK, through an acquaintance. Jagga, using encrypted messaging apps, indoctrinated Yugpreet and routed over ₹4.36 lakh in terror funds via a complex web of Canada-based entities. These foreign operatives have been identified and examined.

Yugpreet subsequently recruited Jaskaran and Harjot, and the trio executed the grenade attack at the Asron police post during the night of December 1–2, 2024. The explosive was provided to them by their foreign-based handlers in November 2024, the NIA stated.

Investigations are ongoing against KZF chief and Designated Individual Terrorist Ranjit Singh Neeta, Jagga, Jagga Miapur alias Hari Singh (currently in the UK), and other unknown KZF operatives.

The NIA, which took over the probe from Punjab Police in March 2025, said the attack was part of a larger conspiracy to target law enforcement establishments and critical installations, and to carry out targeted killings in Punjab.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling KZF’s transnational terror network and disrupting its plans to spread unrest in the region.
