CHAMBA, Sept 21 — A medical intern was killed and another remains untraced after a car carrying four students of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC), Chamba, veered off the road and fell into the Ravi River near Parel on the town’s outskirts early Sunday.
Police confirmed the victim as Abhishek, a resident of Hamirpur. Ishika, a native of Rohru in Shimla district, was swept away by the river’s strong current and is feared drowned. “A search operation is underway to locate the missing intern,” Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said.
Two other interns, Rishant Mastana from Shimla and Divyank from Solan, were rescued with injuries and admitted to PJNGMC for treatment.
According to officials, the vehicle skidded off the road before plunging into the river in the early hours, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately after the accident was reported.
