CHANDIGARH, October 14: Punjabi rapper Param has made history by becoming the first Indian female artist to reach the top spot on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart, just two weeks after releasing her debut single, That Girl.
Produced by Manni Sandhu under the Collab Creations label, the track has already gone viral internationally, ranking #1 in India, Canada, and the UK, and gaining attention for its catchy beats and authentic storytelling.
Hailing from Duneka village in Moga, Punjab, 19-year-old Param’s meteoric rise is being celebrated as a testament to raw talent, resilience, and authenticity. Her journey from a small village to global recognition is inspiring a new generation of young artists, particularly females from rural communities, to pursue careers in music.
Industry veteran Satvinder Singh Kohli of Speed Records called Param a “standout voice” in Punjabi pop, emphasizing that female rappers remain rare in the genre. He noted that her achievement underscores a growing global appetite for regional Punjabi music.
Param’s success is being seen not just as a personal milestone, but as a landmark moment for Indian music on the global stage, signaling a broader shift in how regional talent is recognized worldwide.
