Chandigarh, November 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday dismissed BJP’s allegations that an official accommodation in Chandigarh was turned into a “Sheesh Mahal” for AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying no special renovation had been done to the house.
In a video message, Mann said the residence being referred to by the BJP has long served as an official guest house for the Punjab Chief Minister’s visitors. “It is the same house where a Pakistani journalist and friend of Capt Amarinder Singh had stayed when he was the Chief Minister. The BJP never called it a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ then,” Mann said.
The Chief Minister accused the BJP of spreading falsehoods and trying to distract from real issues. “They have no agenda for Punjab, so they resort to lies. The Aam Aadmi Party is getting massive support in rallies across the state, and that is what bothers them,” he said.
He added that the building was similar in structure to other official accommodations allotted to ministers of Punjab and Haryana. “No special work or renovation has been carried out,” he maintained.
Taking a jibe at the opposition, Mann said he could provide the addresses of the “real Sheesh Mahals” belonging to former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, who is now with the BJP, and Sukhbir Singh Badal’s Sukhvilas resort.
