Phagwara, November 9, 2025 — The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Doaba) on Sunday announced plans to intensify its agitation over pending sugarcane dues and join upcoming protests called by the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Quomi Insaaf Morcha (QIM). The decisions were made during a meeting of union leaders at Gurdwara Sukhchaina Sahib, presided over by BKU (Doaba) president Manjit Singh Rai.

The union said it would participate in the KMM-backed protest at Panjab University, Chandigarh, on November 10, to oppose the Central Government’s dissolution of the Panjab University Senate, calling it a “direct attack on the autonomy and independence of universities in Punjab.” Rai will lead a 25–30-member contingent travelling from Phagwara to Chandigarh to join the demonstration.

The BKU (Doaba) also confirmed its participation in the November 14 protest by the Quomi Insaaf Morcha, demanding the release of Bandhi Sikhs. As per plans, activists from several circles will assemble at Shambhu Border before marching towards the protest site along with other KMM affiliates.
