Patiala, November 16 — The 29th death anniversary of Subedar Bapu Kartar Singh Dhaliwal was observed on Sunday with devotion and large public participation. The Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was performed, followed by soulful kirtan of Ras Bhihri Bani, as thousands of devotees from across the region gathered to pay their respects.
Members of the Dhaliwal and Rakhra families, including Bapu Ji’s son Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, former USA Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra and Charanjit Singh Rakhra, expressed gratitude to all devotees, as well as the political and religious figures who attended.
The event saw the presence of several prominent personalities, including Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar) president Giani Harpreet Singh, Dera Beas head Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, members of the Namdhari sect and other noted religious leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Giani Harpreet Singh said memorial ceremonies honouring elders were an important part of cultural tradition and helped younger generations understand their contributions. Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale praised the Rakhra family, saying it had remained “spotless and honest” through decades in public life.

A number of political representatives, SGPC members and local leaders were also present. Guru Granth Sahib’s presence remained central throughout, and langar was served to all. The Dhaliwal family and the organising committee received appreciation for the arrangements and seva, as a serene and emotional atmosphere prevailed at the event.
