Ludhiana, Jan 10: Unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at a luxury car showroom on the Ludhiana–Ferozepur highway in broad daylight on Saturday, triggering panic but leaving no one injured, police said.
The firing incident took place around 10.30 am at the Royal Limo showroom in Baddowal near Mullanpur, located opposite an ITBP camp. According to police, two assailants fired seven to eight rounds before fleeing the spot.
Several bullets hit the main glass door of the showroom and the windshields of luxury vehicles parked inside the premises. The showroom deals in high-end brands, including Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover.
Police recovered empty bullet shells from the scene along with two slips of paper bearing the names of alleged gangsters Pawan Shaukeen and Mohabbat Randhawa.
“The slips and cartridges have been seized for forensic examination,” said DSP Varinder Singh Khosa, who led the initial investigation.
He said preliminary findings point towards a possible extortion angle, though the showroom owner has denied receiving any threat calls so far. “No extortion demand has been reported by the owner at this stage. We are examining all possible motives,” the DSP said.
The sudden gunfire caused panic among employees and customers present inside the showroom, but there were no reports of injuries.
Police have registered a case and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.
