CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, JAN 13: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has clarified his availability for a 10 am meeting at the Akal Takht Secretariat on January 15, despite the Jathedar’s move to reschedule the appointment. The Akal Takht had previously shifted the timing to 4:30 pm, citing the Chief Minister’s scheduled commitments with President Droupadi Murmu.

The summons was initially issued on January 5 by officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj. The Chief Minister is required to provide clarification regarding allegations that his conduct has insulted Sikh principles and institutions.

“I have no appointment on January 15. I have conveyed this to the Office of the President. January 15, as per your orders, was fully devoted to Akal Takht Saheb. No official intimation about changing the time from me or my office was released. I am ready to come humbly at 10 am,” CM Mann stated via a post on X.

While the President is scheduled to attend convocation ceremonies at GNDU Amritsar on January 15 and NIT Jalandhar on January 16, the Chief Minister confirmed he has cleared his morning schedule to comply with the religious authority’s original directive.

The Akal Takht Secretariat had earlier adjusted the schedule under the impression that official state duties would prevent a morning appearance. This discrepancy has created a unique situation where the Chief Minister is publicly requesting to adhere to the earlier time slot to demonstrate his commitment to the Takht.
