Ludhiana, Jan 21: A 20-year-old man was killed in broad daylight on Wednesday after being shot during a confrontation at a public park in the Jamalpur area of Ludhiana.
Police officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to secure the area and begin a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the violence.
The victim has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Billa, a resident of Ram Nagar in Mundian village.
Preliminary reports indicate that Billa was walking through the park in the afternoon when he was approached by another individual.
Witnesses noted that a verbal dispute broke out between the two men before the assailant produced a firearm and discharged it at close range.
Billa collapsed immediately after the gunshot and was pronounced dead at the spot. Local authorities are currently reviewing footage and speaking with residents to track the movement of the suspect, who fled the scene following the shooting.
The investigation aims to determine the specific motive behind the initial disagreement that led to the fatal encounter.
“The police team reached the spot as soon as the information was received and we have started an investigation into the matter,” a senior police official noted while assessing the scene.
