Chandigarh, January 28: Educational institutions across Chandigarh have been advised to avoid panic and follow established safety protocols after receiving a wave of fraudulent bomb threats.
The administration released new guidance on Wednesday to help staff and students navigate these situations with minimal disruption.
The administration noted that the immediate priority for any school receiving a suspicious message or call is to notify the police. By doing so, law enforcement can take action according to set safety standards.
Officials warned against taking drastic measures, such as closing schools based on unverified threats, noting that such actions often lead to avoidable stress for both students and parents.
“Security agencies are equipped to assess threats promptly and take appropriate measures to ensure safety,” the advisory mentioned.
While schools are encouraged to stay alert to suspicious activity, the administration said that continuing with the standard academic calendar is essential. The focus remains on a balanced approach that prioritizes safety without yielding to the intent of hoaxers who aim to create chaos.
The advisory further stated that schools should rely on official channels for communication rather than circulating unconfirmed reports.
The administration directly said that maintaining a calm atmosphere is vital to the city’s overall security and stability.
