MOGA, Jan 28 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Wednesday that Dhudike, the birthplace of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, will be developed into a model village with advanced infrastructure. Speaking at the 71st Lala Lajpat Rai Janam Diwas Khed Mela, the Chief Minister noted that all basic amenities, including sewerage systems, village ponds, and playgrounds, will be upgraded to meet high standards.

The Chief Minister stated that unlike previous administrations that only drafted plans, his government is focused on executing work on the ground. He set a firm deadline for the completion of these projects, promising a transformation of the village by the next birth anniversary of the iconic nationalist.

“I’ll return next year on Lala Ji’s birth anniversary; by then, all development works will be completed,” Mann directly said during his address to the villagers.

During the event, the Chief Minister set aside security protocols to sit with spectators and watch kabaddi and hockey matches. He expressed that his presence among the people was a reflection of his identity as a common man.

“I am a common man and joining my brothers and elders in watching this rural sports fest, which is our soul, gives me immense satisfaction,” Mann mentioned.

The Chief Minister also shared details regarding the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna,’ noting that it represents the state’s most significant health reform. He explained that the cashless treatment limit has been doubled to ₹10 lakh per family, a move expected to benefit approximately 65 lakh families across Punjab.

Addressing long-standing regional issues, Mann noted that the state government remains committed to reclaiming Chandigarh as the capital of Punjab and establishing a dedicated High Court. He also expressed his condolences following the tragic passing of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, offering sympathies to the bereaved family.
