Amritsar, Feb 10: Amritsar Commissionerate Police have disrupted a sophisticated cross-border smuggling module, arresting five individuals and recovering a cache of weapons and high-grade synthetic drugs.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 523 grams of ICE (methamphetamine) and two Glock 9mm pistols. Police noted that the arrests expose a well-organized network with international connections, specifically linked to a handler based in Australia. The accused have been identified as Satnam Singh, Raman, Chirag, Rishabh, and Vaibhav, all residents of the Amritsar and Chabhal Road areas.

“The handler deliberately shared only limited identifying details, such as clothing or physical markers of the recipients,” police officials noted while explaining the insulated nature of the smuggling ring.

The investigation began on February 6 when a patrol team apprehended Satnam Singh near the Gate Hakima area. Following a search that uncovered the contraband, Singh’s interrogation led to the identification of four associates who were subsequently arrested on February 9. Officials mentioned that the group was communicating via the encrypted platform Signal with a handler known as Dhillon, who allegedly coordinated drone-based deliveries from Pakistan.

Authorities noted that ICE is significantly more potent and approximately five times more expensive than heroin, posing a severe risk to public safety. The police mentioned that none of the young men arrested had a prior criminal record, suggesting the network was targeting new recruits for its operations.
