Chandigarh, Feb 11: The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has announced a 72-hour partial shutdown of the water supply system starting February 11 to address urgent repair needs at Darpan Colony. The project involves replacing a critical segment of the Phase-III pipeline at the Madauli railway line, which will impact supply levels across the city through February 13.
“There will be no pumping of water from Phase-III (Kajauli) to waterworks, Sector-39,” the civic body said in a statement. The department mentioned that the shutdown is vital for the upkeep of the water infrastructure and urged the public to use water judiciously during the repair period.
According to the revised supply timetable, residents can expect full pressure during the morning hours, specifically from 3:30 am to 9 am on Wednesday and Thursday. However, the supply will shift to low pressure during the evening slot from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. On the final day, February 13, full pressure will be maintained from 4:30 am to 9 am before returning to low pressure in the evening.
Engineering teams are expected to work around the clock to complete the replacement within the stipulated timeframe. Regular water supply at normal pressure is anticipated to resume once the Phase-III pumping station at Sector 39 is back to full capacity following the successful installation of the new pipes.
