Chandigarh, Feb 14: Panjab University (PU) on Thursday formalized a partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada, allowing Business Administration students to pursue a portion of their degree overseas. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishes a dual degree framework within the University Institute of Applied Management Sciences.

Under the new arrangement, those enrolled in the integrated BBA–MBA program at the Chandigarh campus may choose to finish their third and fourth years in Canada. Students who meet the necessary academic criteria will be eligible to receive degrees from both participating institutions.

“International academic partnerships strengthen educational standards and widen global exposure for students,” Vice Chancellor Renu Vig mentioned during the signing ceremony. She also noted that the university is looking to explore further engagement between UFV and the Institute for Social Science Education and Research.

The agreement was signed by PU Registrar YP Verma and UFV Vice Chancellor James Mandigo. This collaboration makes the management department one of the few at the university to offer formal international exchange tracks, joining the Dr. SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, which maintains similar ties with Japan.

UFV Vice Chancellor James Mandigo directly said that the dual degree program would deepen academic ties and create new avenues for students, referring to the nearly 20-year history between the two schools.

The partnership is designed to improve employability in international markets by providing access to global faculty and Canadian industry linkages. Conversely, Canadian students are expected to gain insights into the Indian business environment through collaborative research and mobility programs.
