Mohali, Feb 26: Mohali Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain has issued a directive to Community Health Officers (CHOs) to accelerate the screening process for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the generation of ABHA IDs across the district. Addressing a special training session on Thursday, Dr. Jain affirmed that intensifying these efforts is essential for ensuring that residents have access to high-quality, preventive healthcare services.

The Civil Surgeon stated that the Health Department is currently managing a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness and conduct screenings for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and common cancers. She maintained that early detection is the primary goal, as many of these lifestyle diseases often go unnoticed due to a lack of regular check-ups. Dr. Jain asserted that timely identification can significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce the long-term burden on the healthcare system.

During the review, Dr. Jain also touched upon the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, noting that the Punjab Government provides a cashless health insurance cover of ₹10 lakh for every resident. She declared that the full support of CHOs is vital for the successful implementation of this scheme at the grassroots level. Additionally, she stated that the creation of ABHA IDs for all patients is mandatory to ensure a streamlined and digital healthcare record system.

Dr. Jain further asserted that maintaining cleanliness and a positive environment within health institutions remains a top priority. She maintained that a hygienic atmosphere is fundamental to patient recovery and service delivery. After a thorough review of various ongoing health programmes, she declared that further improvements must be implemented to reach all departmental goals at the earliest.
