Over 300 Fashion and Multimedia Students Engage with Industry Experts in Mohali

Mohali, March 2026 – Over 300 students of the Department of Fashion Design and Multimedia at CGC University, Mohali attended a panel discussion titled “The Conscious Generation: How Gen Z is Leading the Sustainability Wave”, focusing on the increasing impact of young generations in promoting sustainability across fashion, media, and industry.

Ms. Sonam, Head of the Department, noted, “Events like these prepare students to think critically about the role they play in shaping a responsible and sustainable industry.” The session was organized under her guidance, with Ms. Ruchi managing event logistics, and skillfully moderated by RJ Mrinal.

The panel brought together experts from diverse professional backgrounds: Mr. Tejinder Singh Fatehpur, Founder, Director & Editor-In-Chief, Dr. Sumita Sikka, Assistant Professor, HOD, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, Dr. Shipra Sharma, Assistant Professor, NIFT Panchkula, Ms. Disha, Corporate Trainer & Mindset Coach

Each panelist shared insights into how Gen Z is influencing sustainable fashion choices, encouraging responsible consumption, and leveraging digital platforms to create awareness. Dr. Shipra Sharma commented, “Young designers today are not just creating trends—they are shaping the future with ethical practices and sustainable materials.”

Students actively engaged in a Q&A session, asking about career opportunities, sustainable design approaches, and industry expectations. “It was inspiring to hear real-world examples of how sustainability can be integrated into design and business,” said one student participant. Panelists encouraged students to adopt innovative thinking, responsible design practices, and environmentally conscious lifestyles.

Mr. Tejinder Singh Fatehpur added, “Digital platforms are a powerful tool for spreading sustainability awareness, and Gen Z is at the forefront of this change.” Ms. Disha noted the importance of mindset, stating, “Being conscious about our choices today determines the future of the industry and the planet.”

The event concluded on a positive note, leaving students motivated to become responsible designers, conscious consumers, and future leaders in sustainability.
