Mohali, March 14: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Councilor Sarabjit Singh Samana has called for the immediate blacklisting of a contractor following reports of serious mismanagement in the Phase-5 market. During a visit to the area on Saturday, Samana reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Market Association regarding local infrastructure and administrative failures.

The association, led by President Amarjit Singh, raised concerns regarding the deployment of female staff at male restroom facilities. Samana stated that such an arrangement is entirely unacceptable and reflects poor oversight by the responsible contractor. He maintained that the contractor should face strict action without further delay to prevent such lapses in the future.

Beyond staffing issues, the councilor noted the deteriorating state of the market’s roads. He affirmed that the connectivity to the Phase-5 commercial areas remains hampered by incomplete and damaged stretches. Samana declared that he would demand a vigilance investigation into the road construction process to address why significant portions remain broken or unbuilt.

“The leadership currently in power at the Mohali Corporation has failed to engage with the actual problems faced by the people on the ground,” Samana asserted.

Additional grievances presented by the shopkeepers included the lack of marked parking lines, which leads to disorganized traffic, and an increase in stray dogs harassing visitors. The councilor stated that these sensitive matters would be pursued with the relevant authorities to ensure a resolution.
