Mohali, March 14: A large-scale ‘Jago’ procession was organized in Mohali on Saturday to celebrate the Punjab government’s announcement of the ‘Maa, Beti aur Behan Samman Yojana.’ The event, held under the supervision of MLA Kulwant Singh, saw hundreds of women marching through local markets to express gratitude for the upcoming financial assistance scheme.

The initiative follows the recent budget session announcement by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led administration to provide monthly monetary support to women across the state. Under the proposed structure, women from Scheduled Caste categories are set to receive Rs 1,500 per month, while women from other categories will be provided Rs 1,000 per month.

Ramanpreet Kaur Kumbhra, the Constituency Coordinator for the Mohali Women’s Wing, led the march and affirmed that the government is committed to fulfilling its electoral promises. She maintained that the scheme serves as a significant step toward the financial empowerment of mothers, daughters, and sisters in Punjab.

“The Punjab government stands by its word and delivers on the guarantees made to the people,” Kumbhra declared during the gathering.

The procession featured traditional festivities, including dhol performances and Bhangra, as participants moved through various bazaars to spread awareness about the scheme. Prominent local figures, including Sonia, Pooja Rani, and Sarabjit Kaur Daun, were among the many attendees who joined the celebration.
