Hemkunt Sahib, March 16: The gates of the sacred Gurudwara Shri Hemkunt Sahib are set to open for devotees on Saturday, May 23, 2026. This decision followed a high-level meeting between Narinder Jeet Singh Bindra, President of the Gurudwara Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, and Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan. After assessing current weather patterns and the significantly lower snowfall recorded this year, both parties affirmed that conditions are suitable for an earlier commencement of the pilgrimage.

The Trust, in coordination with the state government, has finalized extensive arrangements for the Yatra, including free boarding and lodging at various Dharamshalas located in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, and Govindghat. While the traditional Langar will be served at the shrine, Narinder Jeet Singh Bindra declared that pilgrims will not be permitted to stay overnight at the site due to the extreme altitude and limited facilities. He maintained that the decision to advance the Yatra date was influenced by the changing climatic trends, noting that the Char Dham temples are also scheduled to open earlier in April.

Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan stated that the Uttarakhand Government is committed to providing a safe and well-organized experience for all visitors. He affirmed that the state will make every possible effort to ensure smooth travel across the Himalayan terrain. The Gurudwara, situated at over 15,000 feet, holds immense spiritual significance as the site where Guru Gobind Singh Ji is said to have meditated. The Trust asserted that this pilgrimage remains a global symbol of faith and spiritual renewal for thousands of devotees worldwide.

To ensure the safety of all pilgrims, the Trust has requested that visitors strictly adhere to safety guidelines and prepare thoroughly for the high-altitude conditions. Officials maintained that regular updates regarding registration, road conditions, and travel arrangements will be shared through official channels. The administration declared that the spiritual journey offers a divine environment for contemplation and peace, and they remain dedicated to managing the seasonal influx of devotees with the utmost care.
