Lucknow, November 2: The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will organize the ‘Rashtriya Janjatiya Bhagidari Utsav’ from November 23 to 26 at UP Darshan Park in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, marking the birth anniversary of Loknayak Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Organized jointly by the Uttar Pradesh Lok Evam Janjati Sanskriti Sansthan, the Department of Social Welfare, the Tribal Development Department, and the Directorate of Tourism, the four-day national event will bring together over 500 artists from 16 states, including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, and Rajasthan.
Culture and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh declared that the festival aims to present tribal life, traditional knowledge, and folk art forms to the younger generation. The event will showcase traditional folk dances, musical performances, and special presentations by nomadic community artists featuring puppetry, Bahurupiya acts, Nat-Nati traditions, and live been playing.
The festival will feature a specialized craft fair where more than 150 artisans will display tribal cuisine, traditional jewelry, handicrafts, and musical instruments. Workshops and live demonstrations detailing utility product creation from munj grass and wheat stalks will also be organized alongside painting exhibitions and theatrical plays depicting the life of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
With Madhya Pradesh designated as the theme state for this edition, the venue will recreate a rural tribal environment while hosting international cultural troupes to encourage broader artistic exchange. Local schools and universities will participate to enable students to engage directly with tribal heritage through seminars and interactive workshops.
