Chandigarh, April 4: Punjab is finalizing preparations for a special intensive revision of electoral rolls, with Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra reporting that 74.27 percent of the state’s voters have already been mapped. The department is currently waiting for the Election Commission of India to notify the official schedule to begin the full exercise across the state.

Latest data indicates that out of 2,14,57,521 total electors, more than 1.59 crore have been covered in pre-revision mapping. Tarn Taran is currently leading the districts with a coverage rate of 88.64 percent, while urban centers like Ludhiana and Jalandhar continue to progress through their respective targets.

“Active cooperation from citizens is crucial to ensure every eligible voter is included and rolls remain accurate,” Mitra stated.

The Chief Electoral Officer maintained that the 2003 records serve as the primary reference point for this process. Citizens are encouraged to use the ECI portal to verify their details or those of their ancestors to ensure proper linkage. Once the revision officially commences, Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door visits to collect necessary documentation from every person currently on the 2025 voter list.

Mitra also affirmed that a dedicated helpline is available for public assistance. To ensure the process remains transparent, political parties have already designated more than 8,000 agents to monitor activities at the booth level.
