Mohali, April 30: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday celebrated the success of 369 government school students who cleared the JEE Mains examination, citing their achievement as definitive proof of a successful educational turnaround in the state. During a ceremony at Vikas Bhawan in Mohali, the Chief Minister maintained that these results validate the “Sikhya Kranti” initiative aimed at elevating public schooling to national standards.

The Chief Minister noted that students previously limited by a struggling academic system are now competing effectively on a national stage. He stated that providing high-quality education is a fundamental right rather than a luxury, and asserted that structural reforms have enabled children from modest backgrounds to excel. Among the achievers were students like Randeep Singh, the son of an auto driver, who affirmed that his enrollment in a School of Eminence provided the necessary exposure to pursue engineering.

Addressing the audience of students and parents, Mann declared that these achievers represent the immense potential of Punjab’s youth. He maintained that the government has worked to reverse years of neglect by improving infrastructure and updating teaching methodologies. To support this transition, the state has sent educators to Finland and Singapore for specialized training to bring international best practices into local classrooms.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the role of teachers, describing them as the primary architects of this transformation. He stated that by recruiting campus managers to handle administrative duties, the government has allowed educators to dedicate their full attention to classroom instruction. He affirmed that this shift, combined with new initiatives like regular parent-teacher meetings, has created a more collaborative and effective learning environment.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, also in attendance, stated that the system has moved from the brink of collapse to a model of progress. He noted that the state now maintains comprehensive records to track and support student development. The event concluded with the Chief Minister presenting awards to the students, maintaining that their perseverance has redefined academic expectations for government schools across the region.
