Chandigarh, May 13: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday stated that the state’s “Sikhya Kranti” is yielding historic outcomes as girls secured two of the top three positions in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 examinations. Harleen Sharma of Jaito claimed the first position with 646 marks out of 650, while Manimahesh Sharma of Rupnagar and Riya Rani of Hoshiarpur followed with 645 marks each.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state has officially surpassed Kerala to rank first in primary and middle-school education according to recent central government data. He maintained that this shift is the result of four years of dedicated reforms, including the introduction of smart classrooms and advanced teacher training programs.

“These children have proved that if they are given wings to fly, they can soar to great heights in every sphere,” Mann declared during a ceremony in Chandigarh where he felicitated the toppers. He noted that the state government is awarding each of the top three students a cheque for ₹50,000 and offering them direct admission into any stream at the Schools of Eminence.

The results showed an overall pass percentage of 94.52%, with 2,54,744 students clearing the exams. Mann asserted that the performance of government school students was particularly notable, with 88 students from state-run institutions appearing on the merit list. Additionally, 1,688 government schools achieved a perfect 100% pass rate.

The Chief Minister declared that the administration remains committed to providing equal opportunities for students in both rural and urban areas. He maintained that the success of these students serves as a role model for future generations, proving that Punjab’s youth can compete with the best in the nation when provided with modern infrastructure.
