Mansa/Ludhaina, May 13: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) announced the Class 12 results on Wednesday, revealing an overall pass percentage of 91.46%. In a historic academic achievement, three students reached the maximum possible score of 500 out of 500 marks. Supneet Kaur, a science stream student from Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School in Mansa, was declared the state topper based on age-related tie-breaking criteria.
Following the topper, Suhani Chauhan and Diwanshi, both from Ludhiana schools and students of the humanities stream, also secured perfect scores of 500 to claim the second and third positions respectively. The board affirmed that 2,42,755 candidates successfully cleared the examinations out of a total of 2,65,417 who appeared.
“The pass percentage of girls was significantly higher than that of boys,” the board stated in its report, noting a 94.73% success rate for female students compared to 88.52% for males. Officials maintained that the performance gap between rural and urban areas remained minimal, with rural students slightly ahead at 91.63%.
Amritsar emerged as the leading district with a 96% pass rate, while Patiala dominated the merit list with 59 students. Conversely, Ludhiana and Muktsar were among the districts on the lower end of the percentage scale. The board noted that results for 58 students have been withheld, while 17,495 students will need to appear for compartment exams.
