Ferozepur, May 23: The Ferozepur District Police intercepted a major narcotics shipment, arresting three suspects and seizing 4.254 kilograms of heroin during a targeted raid at the City Ferozepur grain market, senior law enforcement officials confirmed Saturday.
The operation was executed by a specialized team from the CIA Staff Zira under the ongoing “War Against Drugs” state enforcement campaign. Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu stated that tactical teams launched the sting operation after receiving credible intelligence that the suspects were waiting for buyers on an unregistered motorcycle. The detained individuals have been identified as 22-year-old Ranjit Singh, alias Rana, 19-year-old Arshdeep Singh, alias Arshi, and 19-year-old Akashdeep Singh, alias Akash.
In addition to the narcotics recovery, police personnel confiscated the unregistered motorcycle and three mobile phones used in the illicit trade.
“The district police are operating specialized teams under the direct supervision of all gazetted police officers to decisively check the activities of anti-social elements and drug traffickers,” Sidhu noted.
A formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the City Ferozepur Police Station. Police tracking records revealed that two of the suspects are repeat offenders with prior narcotics cases pending against them in Ferozepur and Moga districts. Investigators maintained that custodial interrogation is currently underway, which is highly anticipated to yield further disclosures regarding broader supply chains.
