Chandigarh, May 24: An extensive environmental restoration initiative has been formalised to tackle pollution levels within the Najafgarh drain, one of the primary contributors to the ecological load on the Yamuna river. The state framework cleared an allocation of Rs 860 crore dedicated specifically to desilting, waste treatment upgrades, and embanking procedures. Environmental planners asserted that the structural layout will focus on localized biological remediation to treat wastewater before it reaches downstream currents.

Engineering teams declared that the project timeline will introduce minimal disruption to the urban layout while creating long-term drainage benefits. Authorities maintained that the systematic extraction of legacy silt remains a top operational goal for the initial phase. Official observers affirmed that the planned upgrades will significantly improve the aquatic health of connected water bodies in the coming years.
