Hoshiarpur, June 16: Hoshiarpur district police have arrested a local woman for allegedly murdering her mother-in-law following a severe domestic dispute in Mukhliana village. The accused, identified as Prabhjot Kaur, was taken into custody after law enforcement personnel formally registered a criminal case based on a detailed complaint filed by the deceased woman’s son.
The ongoing investigation was initiated immediately after the victim, Nirmal Kaur, was discovered deceased inside a bedroom at the family residence. Senior police officials maintained that the terminal altercation occurred while the complainant was away from the house receiving specialized medical treatment for a chronic kidney ailment at a private medical facility in Hoshiarpur.
District police investigators asserted that deep-seated domestic friction had previously caused significant instability within the household. Outlining the initial findings of the police department, an investigating officer stated, “The evidence points to an escalation of frequent domestic arguments that ultimately culminated in a physical assault inside the residential property.”
According to the official complaint, the incident came to light during the early hours of June 15 when the victim’s son returned from the hospital. A nearby resident informed him that the accused had unexpectedly entered their property via an interconnected roof terrace while carrying visible bloodstains on her clothing.
The police department affirmed that the accused allegedly disclosed to the neighbor that she had engaged in a fierce dispute with her mother-in-law before striking her on the head with a brick in a fit of rage. Law enforcement representatives maintained that the victim’s body has been transferred to the civil hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination as further forensic collections continue.
