Chandigarh, June 23: The state executive has introduced a legally binding cap on private educational expenditures to protect families from unpredictable costs. Meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Cabinet approved a new ordinance restricting annual fee hikes by private unaided schools to a maximum of five percent. The Chief Minister’s Office declared that any institutional adjustments beyond this threshold will now require mandatory prior clearance from the state regulatory body to ensure total transparency and fiscal accountability.

Alongside educational protections, the administration advanced several structural reforms to optimize governance and economic growth. The Cabinet granted formal concurrence for the deployment of the State Data Integration Platform, a unified digital architecture designed to link departmental databases and eliminate operational duplicities. “The project will be managed by a newly constituted three-tier steering committee under the Chief Secretary to ensure a smooth and hassle-free implementation,” the official statement maintained, noting that the system will significantly streamline public service delivery.

To improve regional administrative accessibility, the state approved the immediate creation of an Additional Deputy Commissioner post along with dedicated supporting staff for the Dasuya Sub-Division in Hoshiarpur district. This decision remedies long-standing logistical challenges for local residents who previously traveled extensive distances for routine revenue matters and grievance redressals. Furthermore, the executive amended existing industrial incentive guidelines to simplify the verification and disbursement of capital subsidies, providing a cleaner, more efficient framework for incoming commercial investments.
