Mohali, July 6: A major organizational rift has widened within the Punjab Congress as senior party leaders joined forces to openly oppose the continuation of Amarinder Raja Warring as the state unit chief. This collective mobilization occurred during a strategic meeting in Mohali on Monday, taking place just hours before All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Punjab, Bhupesh Baghel, was scheduled to arrive in Ludhiana to assess the state unit’s political health.

Following the high-level huddle, the dissenting leaders signaled their coordination by collectively sharing a group photograph across their official social media platforms. The public display featured several of the state’s most prominent political figures, including former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Partap Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Pargat Singh, who have spent the last forty-eight hours holding consecutive meetings to establish a unified front.
In a swift counter-move, the state unit president also published photographs of the same gathering on his own social media accounts to project organizational stability. However, observers noted that Warring himself was completely missing from the collective group photograph, a development that further intensified speculation regarding internal factionalism.
The state president sought to neutralize reports of division by framing the gathering as an official party exercise focused purely on future electoral readiness rather than an internal rebellion.
“This was a meeting to discuss the party’s strategy for the Punjab Assembly elections, and it was not a meeting of any camp,” Warring declared.
The political maneuvering underscores a growing effort by the state’s senior leadership to present a unified grievances platform to the visiting central leadership, challenging the current hierarchy before the upcoming assembly polls.
