Washington, July 9: Direct military conflict between the United States and Iran has erupted anew in the Middle East after President Donald Trump declared the recently negotiated peace framework void. The breakdown triggered immediate retaliatory operations, with the United States military launching successive aerial campaigns and Iran targeting American naval infrastructure across the Persian Gulf region.
“For me, I think it’s over,” US President Donald Trump stated during comments at the NATO Summit, adding that further military actions were being deployed. He affirmed that the administration remains committed to neutralizing regional capabilities, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that Tehran still retains prohibited chemical stockpiles.

The standard of relative calm established by last month’s memorandum of understanding shattered after overnight American precision strikes targeted multiple coastal and inland sectors, including Bushehr and Chabahar. Officials in Tehran confirmed that the initial waves of bombardment resulted in eight military casualties and numerous injuries. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps deployed missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles against the US Fifth Fleet facilities situated in Bahrain and Kuwait.
“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping,” the US Central Command declared in an official statement. The command maintained that the four-hour operation, which hit dozens of tactical targets, was a direct response to hostile maneuvers affecting international transit lanes in the Strait of Hormuz.
