State's thriving textile sector and progressive policies attract major industry leaders on third day

NEW DELHI/PATNA, JULY 17: The Bihar Pavilion, organized by the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, emerged as a major focal point on the third day of the ongoing Bharat Tex 2026 exhibition at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. The display attracted a steady stream of national industry leaders, policymakers, international buyers, and textile entrepreneurs keen to explore the state’s rapidly expanding apparel sector and supportive industrial ecosystem.

Distinguished delegates visited the pavilion to review the state’s progress, including Smt. S. Savitha, Minister for Handlooms & Textiles, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Shri Jawed Ashraf, Chairman, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO); Dr. Mahendra B. Dhawale, Deputy Director, Directorate of Sericulture, Maharashtra; and Shri Rohit Chandra, Nominated Member, Bihar State Entrepreneur and Trader Commission.

Senior state officials, including Dr. Vidya Nand Singh, Director, Directorate of Handloom & Sericulture; Shri Aman Samir, Director, MSME; and Shri Mukul Kumar Gupta, Director of Industries, welcomed the delegates. The representatives asserted that Bihar is highly focused on bolstering its textile and apparel value chain through strategic skill development initiatives and a robust, investor-friendly policy framework. The visiting dignitaries affirmed the state’s rich heritage in handicrafts, noting the impressive quality of its GI-tagged products.

The exhibition successfully highlighted Bihar’s historical textile traditions alongside its modern industrial vision. Several prominent business representatives and buyers declared a strong interest in establishing new ventures and expanding their current operations within Bihar, citing the state’s promising business climate and vast workforce potential.

State organizers maintained that the enthusiastic reception on the third day reflects Bihar’s steady rise as a premier destination for modern textile investments. By merging cultural heritage with forward-looking industrial policies, the state continues to strengthen its position on the national manufacturing map.

The Department of Industries has extended an open invitation to all remaining visitors, investors, and industry professionals to explore the state’s diverse opportunities firsthand at Hall 11, Stall A4, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, through July 17, 2026.
