Gidderbaha bids farewell to fallen soldier who lost his life on duty in Rajouri

Gidderbaha, July 24: Lance Naik Sukhpreet Singh of the 19 JAK Rifles was cremated with full military honours at his native village of Buttar Bakhua in Muktsar district. The 27-year-old soldier lost his life on duty in Rajouri district during heavy rainfall when a rock fell at the operational site, causing immediate fatal injuries.

“He was serving alongside six others when the incident occurred during adverse weather conditions,” Subedar Sukhvindar Singh stated regarding the tragic occurrence.

Army personnel, local elected representatives, and community members gathered in large numbers to pay their respects as the procession arrived at the village. Having joined the armed forces in 2019, the soldier had completed nearly eight years of service and was survived by his parents and younger sister. Local residents expressed deep grief over the loss and requested the construction of a memorial gate in his honour.
